Hi, I’m Brielle — and welcome to my very first blog post.
This space is the beginning of something deeply personal and deeply joyful: a celebration of the art of hosting, a love of gathering, and the magic of making people feel seen. Hosted by Brielle is more than just a brand — it’s my way of honoring the woman who first taught me what it means to make others feel at home.
This is for you, Granny.
My late grandmother, Rosetta Bass — or as we lovingly called her, Granny — was the original hostess in our family. Growing up, I spent nearly every break from school at my grandparents’ house — weekends, spring break, summer, and holidays. It wasn’t just a home; it was a hub of warmth, laughter, and intentional togetherness.
She didn’t just host us — she taught us to host. Each of us — me, my sister, and our cousins Amber and Kameron — were given our own “hosting week.” We’d plan meals, pick movies, and organize activities for the rest of the group. It was playful, yes, but it was also deeply thoughtful. We found joy in trying to impress each other with new dishes or desserts. We’d share experiences we thought the others might love. We’d pick out small gifts or thoughtful gestures that made each other feel known. And through it all, Granny watched with pride, knowing she’d planted the seed.
That spirit is what Hosted by Brielle is all about.
But here’s the thing — I believe the art of hosting is endangered.
We live in a world of convenience. We’re booked, busy, and often more focused on the photo than the feeling. Invitations have been replaced by group texts. Celebrations are increasingly curated for content, for vibes, for aesthetics.
And while I can appreciate beautiful details — the right glassware, soft candlelight, a perfectly arranged menu — I believe substance makes for richer experiences. A beautiful table means nothing if the conversation feels hollow. I want to move away from the idea that we only gather for the 'gram and lean into what really lasts: connection, intention, and joy that lingers long after the night ends.
This blog, and this brand, is my way of preserving that magic — not just in our homes, but wherever we gather. Whether it’s a cozy dinner party, a picnic in the park, a brunch at a Black woman-owned wine bar, or a themed girls’ night at your favorite Pilates studio — hosting can happen anywhere. And I’m here to remind you of just how special it can be.
So here’s to the table-setters. The playlist-makers. The ones who always bring the good vibes. The ones who make others feel seen.
Let’s bring back the art of hosting — together.
